We kindly ask our speakers to take two facts into consideration when preparing their presentations.
First, the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Química (ETSEQ) is a very rich ecosystem, whose faculty, researchers and graduate students have diverse backgrounds (chemical, mechanical and industrial engineering, chemistry, physics and biology, among others) and diverse research interests (from molecular simulation to environmental engineering, from catalysis to organizational design).
Second, the Multidisciplinary Seminar Program is both the seminar series for faculty and researchers in the School and a mandatory class for graduate students.
With these boundary conditions, we encourage speakers to make an extra effort to:
- Provide extensive background to their research. We do not expect speakers to teach an undergraduate-level class; but we ask them to spend extra time (as much as half of the presentation) explaining the rationale, problems and challenges that drive their research.
- Avoid jargon and understand that the audience is made up of smart educated people, who may not, however, be familiar with the specifics of her field of research.
