KHCO3/CO2 ELECTROREDUCTION FOR FUEL CELL APPLICATIONS: REACTION AND REACTOR OPTIMIZATION, PROTOTYPING WITH 3D PRINTING AND AUTOMATIC TESTING

Since the first industrial revolution, humans have emitted tremendous amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere. This CO2 is causing the global temperatures to rise, with catastrophic consequences for the environment. One of the solutions is to stop emitting CO2 by using renewable energies. However, even just cutting out CO2 emissions is not going to be enough, therefore CO2 removal from the atmosphere is necessary. There are already well-developed CO2 removal technologies, but its necessary yet to improve the technologies that transform this CO2 into valuable products to make this technology competitive. The transformed CO2 can be used as an energy carrier to power a fuel cell and generating a zero-CO2 emission cycle. Finally, all these experiments can be automated to obtain better data.
