DESARROLLO DE NUEVAS FORMULACIONES PARA SU APLICACI?N EN EL SECTOR DE LA COSM?TICA

The use of acrylic resins has been increased in the last decades the interest in the field of the cosmetics industry. These resins are composed of polymers, oligomers, monomers, inorganic and organic pigments and polymerization initiators (thermal or photochemical, according to the curing process of each material).
In this thesis, different formulations based on mixtures of acrylic compounds were investigated and developed for getting materials with enhanced properties for their application in decorative cosmetics. To prepare final materials, several experiments were carried out for studying the thermal and photochemical curing process of each formulation. Thermomechanical properties of each thermoset material were evaluated for getting final materials with convenient properties.
The thesis has been divided into five chapters that, with the exception of introduction and analysis techniques, are related to specific objectives that show the different experimental tests and the analysis of their results. Chapter third corresponds to the preparation of thermosetting materials from two components (one powder and other liquid), with a thermal curing process. The main objective in this part of the work was the development of liquid formulations with a slower curing process, in order to improve the workability of the final material.
Chapters fouth and fifth correspond to the preparation of UV gels with a photochemical curing process for both systems. The main objective in this part of the work was the development of gels with an appropiate viscosity for their application, and also for getting final materials with excellent properties of hardness and durability.
