Charles Baroud

Institution: Department of Mechanics, Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France

Charles Baroud got his Science Bachelor from MIT in 1994, his MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997, his PhD at the same university in 2001 and the Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR) from the University of Paris 7 in 2008.

He founded and leads the microfluidics group the Laboratoire d’Hydrodynamique at Ecole Polytechnique. His research interests originate from fluid dynamics to now encompass many adjacent areas, such as nonlinear dynamics, bio-engineering, or soft matter. He is often amazed at how much you can learn by just looking (if you know what to look for).
