Aldo Galeone

Institution: Dipartimento di Farmacia, University of Naples “Federico II”

Aldo Galeone graduated in Pharmacy in 1986 and in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1989 at the University of Naples “Federico II” with a thesis on the synthesis and the characterization of cyclic oligonucleotides.
In 1993 he got his PhD in Bioactive Natural Compounds with a thesis entitled “Synthesis of modified polinucleotides for biological and chemico-physical investigations”.
He joined the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Naples “Federico II” in 1998 as Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry. In 2002, he became Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry at the same Faculty. In the years 2003-2012, he moved to the Faculty of Biotechnology and, following the Italian University reform in 2012, he joined the Department of Pharmacy, where he works at the moment.
His research activity is mostly in the fields of the synthesis of modified oligonucleotides and investigation of unusual DNA structures. He is the author of more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
